Unlike most of what I have read from other enthusiasts about this game, I'm actually STILL looking forward to it's release. Although, there are a few issues that will need some heavy explaining on 2k Marin's part.

For one, this is supposed to be after the events of the first Bioshock. You are the First Big Daddy, a prototype. Faster, stronger, and possess this thing called 'free will'. Hmmm. I'm certainly not one to bash a game on mere merit of words and not having played it, but something about the story this time around seems a little off. Maybe 2k Marin can help 'enlighten' me.

How is it that you are the first Big Daddy prototype, all others that we saw in Bioshock 1 was a direct descendant of this Daddy. One question I know many are asking, well then why didn't we see the BD's in Bio1 wielding plasmids as well? I highly doubt that removing the plasmids, and the speed of this BD made the other BD's more of a challenge. I would like to have seen them try to burn me with a Fire plasmid, or try to electrify me with a Bolt plasmid. Hell, you guys could have given the BD's the Mind Fk plasmid and made me one of their lackeys and not be able to shoot them or harm them (for a set amount of time of course). It's just fundementally insane that you would create this character as the original gene bank for all those poor, plasmid-less wannabe's in Bio1.

I think they just worded it wrong. They say you are a prototype for the BD's you saw in Bio1, I think maybe they should say you are the prototype from the BD's you saw in Bio1. Call me crazy, but that makes a little more sense seeing this is all happening 11 years after the events in Bio1!

Other issues looming this title, is the unfortunate pushed back release date. You won't be getting your copy in November, like it was said. You will have to wait until Q1 of 2010. Even that doesn't seem to be a definite. 2k Marin explains that the game is not ready so they need more development time. I hope this time is well spent.

They also believe that pushing the date back will prove to be actually MORE beneficial to them than we are able to understand. My guess is that they are a little nervous about Modern Warfare 2's release so close to their original projected date. The game is great (Bioshock 1), will the sequel/prequel fair well among the other popular games releasing in Q4 2009? Of course they can. I can understand if you need more time, a game like this, the competitive factor is somewhat overwhelming, but if it's as good as the first Bioshock it won't have a problem.

Let's recap what we know so far:

You are the very first Big Daddy in Rapture. You possess enhanced speed and intellect. You have free will. You will be able to use your Drill and/or Rivet Gun simultaneously with Plasmids. You will also have the use of the Shoulder Dash as seen in Bioshock 1 with Big Daddy Juniors. You will be able to go outside of Rapture and explore the ocean floor picking up useful items like sea slugs, which act in the same way as ADAM. The Big Sisters come out when you kill a set amount of other Big Daddies. The Big Sisters can extract ADAM from her enemies via a harvesting needle directly into her bloodstream. She is stronger, lightening quick and a huge problem for our Big Daddy protagonist. When you capture a Little Sister, you have the option to harvest her or Adopt her, putting her on your shoulders and going around protecting her while she recovers ADAM form fallen victims, just like in Bioshock 1.

Little Sisters play a great role in warning you of incoming Big Sisters; they sing a sweet soothing song-"Mr. B, Mr. B, Big Sister doesn't want you playing with me...". Big Sister is apparently a Little Sister from the previous title who has fashioned herself as a Big Daddy and become the unappointed ruler of Rapture. See you left Rapture in good hands. Multiplayer has been added to Bio2, which seems to be the prequel based game we were looking for. It will have it's own separate story from the Main game focused around a war-torn Rapture prior to you ever visiting there in the first installment. Last but not least, the subtitle "Sea of Dreams" will apparently be dropped from the title of the game, it was stated that the subtitle was for just for the trailer and not the Main game.

As you can see, there are going to be some twists in the game. The multiplayer will be scrutinized, as I'm not entirely sure that it will be unconditionally accepted for this type of game. Still interested? You bet, I love controversy! Bioshock rocks, and I'm totally positive that even with the pushed back date, that 2k Marin will not disappoint.
Can't wait!

I liked the first game and arguably, this one will be better. A lot of people didn't really understand the story and plot of the first Bioshock, ( not picking up tape recorders, etc.) So they may be thrown off with what Bioshock is. Yes there is an issue for me with this being 11 years after Bio1 and you are the first Big Daddy, the prototype...I want to know who broke the mold after they made you and why the BD's in Bio1 weren't as free-willy?
