Miss your Playstation? Playstation 2? Here's a great download for you guys who have been missing a little reminiscing when it comes to your old PS and PS2 games.

Download instructions:

First get your copy of an emulator. I use PSXE because it's the better choice out of many, for your Playstation pleasure.
get PSXe here: http://www.epsxe.com/download.php

Next, you're going to need some way to play the games (ROMS, ISO's).
you can get a virtual drive to play the games here: http://daemon-tools.en.softonic.com/

Now for the additives you will need to complete your setup:
cdrPeops.dll - This is the CD-ROM plug-in. gpuPeopsSoft - This is a video plug-in. This plug-in is ideal for people with slow computers and/or computers with a not so great video card.gpuPeteD3D.dll, gpuPeteDX6D3D.dll, gpuPeteOpenGL.dll, gpuPeopsOpenGL.dll - These are the video plug-ins that render the 3D graphics according to a specified resolution (as explained in "About ePSXe"). Pete's OpenGL plug-in is the best of this trio. But even better is the next one...
gpuPeteOpenGL2.dll -
Same as the above plug-ins, except this is the best and most advanced plug-in. However, it's only compatible with modern video cards. If you have an older computer you need to rely on the other plug-ins.
spuEternal.dll
- This is the audio plug-in.
spuEternalL.dll - This is just a supporting file for spuEternal.dll

You can get the above mentioned plug-ins from visiting here:
http://www.fantasyanime.com/emuhelp/epsxe_plugins.zip
You will also need a BIOS in order to run the program. It's pretty much frowned upon to just 'give' out that particular information, but I can direct you to do a simple Google search and look for the BIOS necessary for your situation. There are some espxe emulators that come pre-loaded with BIOS, Google can help you there as well, but here's a good place to start:
http://www.emuasylum.com/index.php?page=emulators&system=Sony%20Playstation
The rest of the setup is a breeze. I won't try and sit here and take credit for work I didnt put in, so for more detailed information please feel free to visit
http://www.fantasyanime.com/emuhelp/emuhelp_epsxe.htm
Enjoy your Espxe!!!

Not your average mini laptop, the M11x from Alienware is sure to blow you away despite its rather puny size.

Avid gamers will soon realize and learn to respect what powerful impact a laptop of this size, from this company, can offer. Even if you are not a mouse-clicking, gun-toting gamer, you will appreciate that big things Do come in small packages.

The colors that Alienware offer are vibrant, and catchy. Themed layouts are another beautiful feature that is capable of wooing the most critical of critics.

It's whats "under the hood", that makes this lappy 1st runner up to be your new best friend.

Portability? No problem, this lappy weighs in at just under 4.5lbs. HD Graphics of a 15" packed into an 11" portable beast. Get every detail in your gaming experience with a 720p HD 11.6" widescreen LCD display, or you can opt to use the HDMI to hook up to a larger display.

Also included with this is a 1.3MP webcam and digital microphone. One of the best features, to me anyway, is the battery life, clocking in at over 8 hours! So those long nights with WoW won't seem so long anymore eh?

The command center is amazing as well. You can adjust anything from the color of the backlit keyboard, to the color of your alien avatar. Security features are also accessible in this section. Settings such as; facial recognition can be adjusted to keep those nosy ones out and away from your new prized possession.

All in all this lappy packs a huge punch for its small size. Check it out. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Ok people. MW2 is becoming a massive headache to many fps fanboys/girls out there. Glitches, hacks, downed servers...unable to connect. It's almost ridiculous in story mode (Veteran). This MW2 unfortunately doesn't truly live up to it's predecessor.
I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be the first...MW2 tanks on levels that would have been unbelievably great to play otherwise. There's been already about 2 major patches made, and with this latest infinite care packages glitch looming about, meh do I really want to play? (btw, yes I know that glitch was patched but this is a new glitch that will work after the patch)

Multiplayer is fun, but call me old fashioned, I prefer the MP from the good old days, MW1. I'll give you a peek at this latest glitch, catch it while you can, it may be getting patched real soon..but as always..build a great mouse trap, someone is always out there trying to tear it down. The future.....glitch-free fps gaming. I'm done, catch you guys later!

Comments are always welcome. If you don't agree...hey, that's you..but I want to know!

It's me again, I know my posts are far and few between, but what can I do...I have kids! So here we are a week or two before the release of this awesome game. Looked around and gathered these clips to give you guys more detail on the levels themselves. Sit back and enjoy, courtesy of EA and YouTube.

Naturally, I'm not going to spoil the end for you. You're just going to have to play! Thanks EA, thanks Visceral Games...kick ass on this one. So what if it resembles God Of War (any), you guys owned on this one!

"...Dante, you seek to rescue Beatrice from her fate...but you too will be judged for you sins. Sins that have marked you. Look to your own salvation...as well as hers..."

You are Dante, inspired by the real Dante Alighieri. A soldier who defies death in order to fight for the love of his life against immeasurable odds. You return home only to find that your love, Beatrice has been murdered and her soul carried away to the depths of hell. Hurt and enraged, you seek vengeance and redemption, and vows to bring her back.

You have been mislead all this time. The many deaths by your hand have seemed justifiable, but when death comes to take you at your last breath, you reject his offer and attempt to fight back. Thrown into the pits of hell itself, you will wield Death's Scythe and acquire Holy abilities to fight your way back to your love, and bring redemption back to your soul.

"...into the blind world we have now descended, put all fear and cowardice aside, I will be your guide through this eternal place where you shall hear the shrieks and see the tormented spirits...who all bewail the second death..."

It starts out as a rescue mission for your bride, but then quickly turns into a quest for salvation. Fighting the sins of your past, along with hordes of demonic beings, huge beasts, and the ultimate traitor Lucifer himself.

Throughout your journey, you will learn to wield Death's Scythe. A soul capturing weapon of devastating force. Light and heavy attacks make way for a mixture of powerful combos and aerial attacks.

You will also learn Holy abilities as well. The Righteous Path power will leave a trail of icy shards in your wake to damage foes. Martyrdom will have you sacrifice health and manna to deal a heavy amount of damage to surrounding enemies. Divine Armor will regenerate your heath and protect you from attacks.

With the power of Death's Scythe, you will also be able to tame certain beasts you come across during your journey. Of course in order to really take advantage of this skill you will have to rid the beast of its current rider. Certain tasks require you to tame a beast and use its strength to open doors, or pummel your foes.

As you travel through the Nine Circles of Hell, keep your eyes peeled. There are many hidden items scattered about. Climb, jump, make lateral movements...let nothing stand in your way from completing your quest and making it out of hell and to your ultimate reward, Beatrice...and Salvation.

The Maine Christian Civic Group is calling for a ban of MW2 Games. Saying that the game depicts and displays too much violence. The group also states that these kinds of games are the reasoning behind the gun violence in our school system. I beg to differ. Anyone who takes a game and cannot separate fact from fiction should not be playing that game. They should be seeking psychological help. To try and ban, badger or sue a gaming industry for creating fantasy is just absurd. If there was to be a ban of MW2 (highly unlikely), they there should also be a ban on the military's $32 million attempt at creating 'real life' war experiences in their game.

IW=fantasy...USArmy=real world experience, and they want to ban IW? Somethings not right there. I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion, freedom of speech and all, but this honestly makes me a little upset that a Christian group can single out IW and their MW series and blame them for the gun violence in school. What about movies, tv shows, everyday life (for some), the constant coverage of the war in Iraq? I guess they feel they should attack whoever is the easiest to attack. It's a shame though, I'm sorry that you guys at iW have to go through such things over a video game. It's really sad. IMHO.

Catch the story here...

What do you think?

Controversy, controversy..oh how we love controversy. Modern Warfare 2, "No Russian" level.
I have mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand, I went through the mission doing just what any shooter would do, I shot people. I mean you're undercover and you need to maintain your cover. How many times have we seen on movies and TV shows, showing just THAT. You need to keep your cover so there are many things you will be forced to do to 'prove' you're one of them.

On the other hand, I can understand some of the gripes out there. It does seem like a poor mans copy of a simulated terrorist attack, on one of the most sensitive areas on land-the Airport. It's just a game folks, I mean FOX. I don't see anyone getting up in arms about say, "In too Deep" or "Deep Cover" or "Donnie Brasco", but they get bent out of shape over a game?

These are sensitive times, and it's a sensitive topic, but I would like your views. What do you think. Do you guys think IW was wrong for including such a mission in the game?

What can I say, I got the bug. I tried to stay away, but there is just too much to talk about when it comes to this game. I looked and looked, and all I can see is that green circle with that damn '2' inside of it! It's everywhere, and now it's here.

So what can I tell you that you don't already know? Well now, speaking of "bugs", there appears to be 3 new mods for MW2 multi-player. nothing major, but I would say that they are noteworthy (especially for those 'i-wanna-play-mw2-like-im-playing-halo kind of people), you'll see what I mean when you take a look at these vids. BTW, no offense to the HALO players.

Modern Warfare 2 Latest mods:

Yes it is. I know I said that I wouldn't be covering much of MW2, but after surfing around the net, I found some pretty interesting things all MW'd out for you. Thought it would be unfair if I didn't share. Here's one that I think MANY of you will find most interesting.

Ever thought of seeing COD4 modded with a totally different feel and look to it? Not just the weapons, I mean the WHOLE FEEL of COD4 multi-player? Well some fans and gamers got together to bring you the best mod you will ever find for COD4. Take a look at this vid and tell me you didn't wet your pants...
...These mods are for MULTI-PLAYER ONLY...

Just to let everyone who visits know, I notice that many of my visitors are here for information on MW2. While I love this game, there are tons of websites, which you can find on my sidebar, that cover this particular game, as I will not.

Ouch! I know, but don't shoot me! I just have other information that I would like to share with you guys and in no way would I devote my time to something as easily accessible as information on this game. Although, I will post any relevant information that I find that may be proven difficult to find, or exclusive. I won't disregard the game completely, but I have so much more to offer.

So to those who are visiting, please continue. I will try to update the MW2 sections with relevant exclusive information, or maybe just some codes. To everyone else who visits to read up on my game development series, thanks a lot, I have more information to come!

Happy Gaming!!!

Back again with the third installment of our Game Development Series. Today we're going to discuss the Artist's and the artwork that goes into creating games. Although it's pretty cut and dry, I will elaborate as much as possible to give you guys a full understanding of what this position entails.

So let's begin...

Obvious question, what is a game artist?
Somewhat of an obvious answer, artists create, visually, what the producers and programmers have cooped up inside their minds. They create sketch screens, sorta like the scenes in a comic book, to layout what is happening in the game at any particular level, battle or just character creation/biography. Artwork is laid out for pretty much every aspect of the game. Landscaping and scenery relies heavily on the artwork, if you can't visualize what's on paper, you're pretty much screwed. You would have lost your audience before you even got started.

Compensation for this position can vary from company to company and country to coountry, but there is a basic bottom line to this job. As a video game artist, you can look to make anywhere from $44,ooo to $102,000. So pick up those pencils and draw your heart out.

Ok folks, we're back again with the second part of our Game Development Series. This one titled, what else, Game Developers. Here we will cover what a Game Developer is, what they do, and offer additional resources about the field and how to get yourself involved. If you take a look at the sidebar, you will notice a list of schools related to game design and development. So, sit back and let's get started.

Game Developers. What exactly is a Game Developer?
In a nutshell, a game developer is a person, (individual or business) who, well...makes games. Also called software developers.

Ok smarty, so what does a Game Developer DO?
Now that's a better question to ask. Let's get into it and explore what this position entails. Game developers may specialize in one particular environment, console, e.g.; Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Wii, DS, PSP, PSP GO, and so on.

There are also developers that specialize in a particular type of game as well, e.g.; pc games, shooter, action and you get where I'm going. Some focus on porting games (from one system to another), some focus on translating games (from one language to another), and a small few do other developmental duties, unrelated to what we're covering at the moment.

Are there different types of Developers?
Yes. There are Third-Party Developers and there are Independent Developers. There are also In-house Developers.

What do Third-Party Developers do?
Third-Party Developers are game developers that are hired by publishing companies to design a game for one or multiple systems. The publisher and developer have major roles and say as to the design and development of the game, but at the end of the day the publisher is boss as they are paying the developers (sucks in a way I know).

Arrangements between the two are covered via contract. In the contract it specifies certain milestones that the developer is being held to. In a sense, a preliminary check list throughout the making and completion of the projected title (game). Milestone can be 4 or even 8 weeks, which the publisher would then check on the progress made by the developers at that time. Depending on the progress, the publishers can see how near to completion they are, and if for some reason, the development team has veered off the publishers path. This is also the time when the publishers ante up the money for it's development team through royalties.

One major draw back to running a third-party development team/company, is the fact that you will rely solely on the funds of the publisher to keep your operation afloat. This kind of venture is the reason why some small development teams don't last too long. Most common strategy for successful third-party development teams, is to sell the company to the publisher, retaining payment, and becoming an in-house development team. Pretty slick huh?

In-house developers have more freedom than third-party developers in the sense that now their ideas are more in tuned with the publisher, relieving the publisher from having to check that the 'third-party' is adhering to the set plan saving the publisher money in the long run.

An example of publisher playing big brother to development companies: Activision retained the following development companies: Raven, Neversoft, Z-Axis, Treyarch, Luxoflux, Shaba, Infinity Ward and Vicarious Visions. Now, these companies may be owned by their publishers, but they each maintain and act a a single entity, much like they were before the aquisition. Also it's a fun note t oknow that most publishers are more forgiving when/if their own development team goes over budget as opposed to the third-party counterparts.

Some relevant notations:
  • In-house development teams that work for a console hardware manufacturer are known as 'first-party developers'.
  • A company that is closely tied to a console manufacturer is known as a 'second-party developer'.
  • Confusingly enough though, the publishers themselves are sometimes referred to as 'third-party developers' in the light of their relationships with the console manufacturers. This distinction of first, second and third party developers does not generally apply to PC games development.
  •
So now, what do Independent Developers do?
Now the difference between Independent Developers and Third-Party Developers is a fairly simple distinction. Independent Developers rely on themselves to promote and push their projects. They rely on the Internet and word of mouth.  The only downside to ID, is that without the huge budget that their counterparts have, many of their games do not get as much recognition as the more mainstream developers.

The plus side to this, yes there is always a silver lining, is that Independent Developers are free to try many ideas that mainstream publishers would find too risky to put their money into.

With the change in times, it is now plausible for Independent Developers to make direct deals with console manufacturers to sell their finished projects and get wide distribution. For instance, look at the many downloadable games you can find through XBOX Live Marketplace, many of the games found there were created by Independent Developers.

Do Game Developers work in a typical office setting?
No, not at all. In an earlier post, I ran down the latest pay figures for positions in the gaming industry. Typically game developers average around $70k. They work in a generally laid back, T-shirt/Jeans kind of environment, which makes for a pretty comfortable and inviting work place. However, working in the gaming industry, not just being a game developer, requires very long hours and tons of commitment. Employee burnout is not an uncommon hazard.

With the laid back persona enveloping this industry, there are perks allowed, and they are pretty good ones too. Free snacks and beverages, video games, ping-pong and other "stress" relievers are readily available for the game developer reaching that burnout level. They also offer moments to "unwind", which makes this like your home away from home. Now why wouldn't you want to work here?
