It's a sad day for PC gamers everywhere. Especially if you are awaiting your copy of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward dropped a bombshell on Saturday stating that they would not be supporting dedicated servers. Instead they will have their own servers 'serve' the community, IW.NET, a matchmaking server.

What does that mean for PC gamers? You lose the option to browse through servers to pick a game to play. Instead IW.NET will pick it for you.

No custom servers either, unless you run a private game. It's also rumored that will be limited as well. No clan servers, and potentially the demise of user made maps and modifications.

Already there are many gaming service providers canceling their pre-ordered copies of MW2.
Petitions have been created to put an end to this, or start to reverse it. 70,000 gamers have signed and therare stories of another petition that has already accumulated 50,000 signatures.
