Hey folks, IGMAG here again with a look at a new game hitting the pavement by January of next year: Bayonetta. Information is pouring in as we wait for this awesome new release, so in the mean time while we wait, let's get a little more acquainted with the game that could very well put Devil May Cry in it's final resting place.
You are Bayonetta, a seductively stylish witch on a mission to vanquish some nasty little angels. Not your ordinary spell caster, Bayonetta is the most unique character you will ever play in an action game. Equipped with two kinds of attacks (weapons in both hands and on both feet), make this sexy action vixen a formidable foe, and an even more devastating heroine.
Acrobatic style fighting makes way for some good laughs, as well as some jaw dropping eye candy. You are given the options of different weapons; swords, shotguns, etc, but what makes this sexy beast stand out is the sole notion that you are in total control of how you will equip such an arsenal. Shotgun in hand or sword on foot, no two players will handle Bayonetta the same way.
With the ability to perform insane attacks, Platinum Games has embedded a sort of combo-tier design enabling players to keep fast track of what combos they have performed to those they may have neglected or overlooked. Armed also with the ability to shape shift, this is one destructive lady! Hell hath no fury...you damn right!
Your enemies are the typical baddies, except that some of those you will encounter tops the epic scale of toe-to-toe battles. I mean some of these baddies are big, bad, and full of testosterone or whatever a savage angelic creature pumps through their system. All set out to do one thing, put an end to you.
PLOT:
...excerpt from wikipedia
Bayonetta takes place in Vigrid, a fictional city in Europe. The titular character is a witch who shapeshifts and uses various firearms, along with magical attacks she performs with her own hair, to dispatch her foes. She possesses four handguns—two hand-held, and one attached to each heel—and has also been pictured with shotguns, rocket launchers, a glowing whip with a cobra's head at the tip of it, and a two-handed katana. Bayonetta faces angelic and warrior-like enemies that confront and challenge her for reasons she is unaware. She awoke after a 500 year sleep and found herself in an unfamiliar area with no memories of who or what she is. Over time, she begins to remember what caused the predicament she found herself in.A male character known as Luka had met Bayonetta as a child, and is now a "possible love interest" for her even though they "exist in different dimensions" and cannot touch. Other characters include Bayonetta's rival Jeanne, who also wields four guns; the three men Rodin, Enzo, and Balder; and the young girl Cereza.
Quote from the director, Hideki Kamiya, creator of Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe series:
There is one particular move that Bayonetta possesses that can spell life and death. "Witch Mode", a move executed by successfully dodging an enemy attack with just the right timing. What it does is slows down the movement of the enemy while keeping Bayonetta launching at full speed. If you want a more in depth explanation, just think Timing+Ninja Gaiden+Boobs+Guns+Sword and throw in a little Dante, and you've got one bad ass compilation of wit, brawn, and raw unmatched power.... it's been eight years since [the first Devil May Cry (DMC)], so of course I wouldn't create a game that hadn't progressed from those days! Of course, if there hadn't have been DMC, there wouldn't be Bayonetta, which has evolved from DMC.—Kamiya, April 2009
