With a release date slated for November 10th, it's a perfect Christmas gift for any FPS fan. The Call of Duty franchise has made an impressive mark on the gaming industry geared around the shooter genre. COD4 was and still is a major factor in gaming, and has left a high mark and hard act to follow. Infinity Wards latest project; COD MW2, it's sure to blow the competition out the water...(c4 not included).
The former COD4 player MacTavish is back as a playable character in COD:MW2. This time around he is a grizzled NPC vet. Zakheav is dead, thanks to Sgt. Price, but the situation hasn't improved. The new face of terroism is a madman and former associate of Zahkeav named Makarov. Just as bad, if not more. He's angry that Zakheav is dead and is using that as an excuse.
With a substantial and significant power base set up in Russia, and an imminent global threat looming, it's pretty cut and dry...he's bad and must be taken out. Besides, the folks at Infinity Ward aren't disclosing any of Makarov's plans as of yet.
New this time around, Special Forces mode, which Infinity Ward claims is in reflection of the incumbersome, and difficult Mile High Club achievement from COD4 MW. Introducing Co-Op.
"...we did a lot of co-op stuff early on that we were interested in, and it didn't work with the story mode at all..." "...It made a lot more sense here..."
-Jason West, Infinity Ward

Many of the Special Forces levels are centered around 2 player co-op. Colored arrows indicate your partners position relative to yours, and the a mini map in the corner of the screen displays both of your positions. If your buddy gets hurt badly, he will bleed out slowly...giving you the extra chance to play hero and save his life. Please watch out for bullets or the two of you will be lying next to each other reminiscing on ventures passed.
Other issues being tackled in this installment is the infinite spawning of enemies (which would only be halted when the player crossed an invisible line)
"...we are aware of it, and we're actively trying to eliminate it..."
-Jason West, Infinity Ward
There were comments brought up about the length of the game, but it seems that particular issue will remain untouched. There are more involved and destructible environments, and as far as Online is concerned..you know Infinity Ward..mums the word.
"...for the story, we want that to be this awesome experience that you have that you can talk with your friends about and that you remember fondly..." "...It's not about dragging it out or playing the same thing over and over. I was very happy with MW1 and the length of it. We let the story drive the length, and we had the story we wanted to tell, and it took the number of levels it required, and we think it worked out. If people wanted more when they were done, I'll take that as a compliment..." "...stretching out the story seems the wrong way to go..."
-Jason West, Infinity Ward
Extensive co-op via Special Forces mode, which is a big answer to one of the fans biggest issue. Competitive multiplayer is a major factor, even though Infinity Ward wasn't disclosing much detail on it.
They say patience is a virtue, I'm more than excited to get my hands on this installment. I salute you Infinity Ward for another innovative, eye-popping, adrenaline-pumping adventure, sure to please all fans.
