Images from IGN.comAugust 14, 2009 is right around the corner. Football season coming up. Online community is as large as the ball dropping in New York on New Years Eve. What to play, what to play?

Madden 2010! Make sure your controllers have fresh batteries because you're going to need them. This installment of the Madden series has answered everyone's prayers with the introduction of the long awaited, Online Franchise Mode, not to be confused with Online League Mode that was in previous, MADDEN 09 installment.

The OFM in this installment is a brand new feature all on it's own. In their attempt to provide all of us with the most realistic, real-time gameplay, the folks at Madden 10 have opted out of the flex scheduling that was in previous titles, and given us a real world experience equipped with 17 week regular season with playoffs.

The biggest difference in this mode is that the franchise goes on from year to year, and your team grows over time. You play a more involved role, and ultimately become the owner of your team. Trades, drafts, retirements, progression/regression are just some of the many features you will be involved with when it comes to making your team a formidable opponent.

"...above all else, the most important change is that Online Franchise is built around a server-based architecture. What that means is that very little support for the mode lives on the game disc itself...it lives online on our servers. The main reason we went that route was so we could add more features and do extra tweaks and tuning based on community feedback even after the game ships (so our fans don't have to necessarily wait until Madden NFL 11 for something new to appear)."
-Donny Moore, Designer-Madden 10
Furthermore, the folks at Madden has added some pretty cool features to this game. Online mode is not just for the gaming either. They have introduced some advantages to having the OFM. You can access your info from the web. Just read what Donny has to say...

"...along with all of that, thanks to our server-based approach, your Online Franchise can be accessed and changes can be made entirely from the web. If you want to change up your depth chart or propose a trade while you wait in line at the store, you now have the access to do so. If you can't get to your console when it's time for the rookie draft, you can now attend from a website (just like a fantasy football draft). This interconnectivity is what we are extremely excited about as we continue to work and develop this mode for the future."
-Donny Moore, Designer-Madden 10
With just this feature as the main focus, it's pretty much a no brainer that this installment of Madden will WOW fans, and build an even stronger following. Is that even possible? Can't wait. If you would like more in depth information on this game visit them HERE
