Walt Disney Co. has announced their marriage to Marvel recently. Disney now has their hands on comic book giants' 5,000 characters, including "Iron Man", "Spiderman" and much more.
Disney expects a short-term profit hit, but Disney's CEO, Robert Iger promised an action packed future.
"Sparks will fly is the expression that comes to mind" stated Iger. The 86 year old co-creator of "Spiderman" and many others, Stan Lee was very happy with the union.
"I love both companies," he said. "From every point of view, this is a great match."Now Disney can chalk this acquisition right up there along with Pixar Animation Studios Inc., which they bought in 2006.
There are still a few issues that need ironing out, (no pun intended) but the deal is said to be finalized by the end of the year. Marvel is still in the works on a few new projects: "Spider-Man 4" (first of next 3 installments), "Iron Man 2" (due out next May), "Thor" and "The First Avenger: Captain America" (both due 2011). Marvel has done huge things in the movie world, and offered nice contributions to the gaming world. A match made in heaven?
What do you think?
